We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal data. However, no system is 100% secure.
We retain personal data as long as necessary to provide services, comply with law, and enforce agreements.
You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings. Your personal data is then deleted or anonymised, except where we must keep it by law (for example, payment records).
NoteWander is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 16. If we become aware that a user is under 16, their account will be removed.
By default, NoteWander accounts are public: posts, photos, reels, events, groups, and guide listings you share are visible to other signed-in users, including in Explore, search, hashtag results, and home feeds.
If you enable Private Account (Settings > Preferences), your profile and stories become visible only to your accepted connections, and your posts, reels, and groups are removed from Explore, search, and other public feeds — including content you post after enabling it. Your connections continue to see your content on your profile and in their home feed.
Private Account controls where your content appears inside NoteWander. While we complete the rollout of database-level enforcement, an individual post may still be reachable by a direct link. Once that rollout completes, direct access to a private account's posts and reels will also be limited to connections, and this policy will be updated to reflect it.
Locations you deliberately tag on a post or reel (for example, a restaurant or viewpoint) are part of that post and are shown at the precision you pinned, to the same audience that can see the post. Your profile's home location is always stored at reduced precision (approximately 1 km). Hiding your map pins (Settings > Preferences > Memories) controls where pins are displayed and is not an access control.
If you block another user, they can no longer view your profile, and your profile appears to them as unavailable.
Content removed by moderators is withheld from feeds immediately and permanently deleted, together with its comments and media files, after a 30-day review window.
Google Sign-In. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from your Google Account. We use them only to create and secure your NoteWander account.
Google Calendar — what we access. If you are a guide and choose to connect your Google Calendar (Settings > External calendars > Connect Google Calendar), NoteWander requests read-only access to Google Calendar (scope calendar.readonly). We read only the one calendar you select, and only each event's start and end time, busy/free status and title.
How we use it. We use this data only to mark those times as unavailable in your NoteWander booking calendar, so travellers cannot book you when you are already busy. Event titles are shown only to you, as a label for the blocked time. We never create, edit or delete events in your Google Calendar, and we do not read other calendars.
Storage and security. Busy times are stored as blocked time slots in our database on Google Cloud (Firebase), encrypted in transit and at rest. The access token Google provides is stored on our servers only and is never exposed in the app or to other users.
Sharing. We do not sell Google user data, share it with third parties, use it for advertising, or use it to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models. Other users only see that a time is unavailable, never your event details.
Retention and deletion. While connected, busy times are refreshed every few minutes. You can disconnect at any time in Settings > External calendars; this revokes our access at Google and deletes the imported blocked times. Deleting your NoteWander account also deletes this data and revokes access. You can also remove NoteWander's access from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Limited Use. NoteWander's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of NoteWander constitutes acceptance of updates.
